City of Souls (Sign of the Zodiac, Book 4) Review
Let me just first start off by saying, "WOW"!!! I've never read a series before where I felt like screaming, crying, and pissed off all at the same time. One moment, I would be laughing and then the next, I would be screaming and cursing. If you've read any of the previous books, you'll know what I mean. At one point, I felt like throwing the book across the room and stomping on it. Especially the third book towards the end. I mean, if you don't consider that great writing than I don't know what is. The great thing about this book is the roller coaster Vicki Pettersson takes you on. The fact that you never know what the author is going to throw at you next is thrilling. You think you know what's going to happen or where the story will eventually lead to, but Vicki suprises you each time. She definitely knows how to hit the spot. I have to admit, after finishing the first book, I was a little hesitant about continuing with the series. I've never read a book before that left me feeling so distressed... and I mean that literally. But I have to say, I'm so glad I did and her latest installment "City of Souls" was by far the best to date. You see throughout the books how much Joanna/Olivia has really grown as a person which I thought was really important for her character. In the beginning, JOlivia may have seemed a little bit selfish - afterall, who isn't selfish when it comes to their own life right? But by the end of book 4, she really starts to see things in a different light.
The fact that this book actually had me bawling at the end says a lot. I definitely agree that this is a much darker urban fantasy but one that you'll beyond doubt enjoy. I can't wait until the fifth installment comes out!!
