The Big Penis Book

The Big Penis Book Review

Bought this on a whim, and was very surprised that this book actually has a good deal of quality and historical content which is what I was looking for. Written in three languages it presents the historical direction of a good many "Male Photographers" whom we have all (in gay land)crossed paths with if we realize it or not. The "Prize" on the cover is just a cheep trick to get the reader, and yes there is a good deal to read, to open the cover and in my case skip over the pictures for text, and have an interesting exploration of the men who offered them selves for service of the photographer. The only disappointment is that the ending about the men who worked was not more extensive.

The Big Penis Book Overview

When it comes to pleasure, size doesn't matter; as we all know it s quality, not quantity, that counts. But let's admit it: a big penis is undeniably compelling. Big shoulders, big lapels, and big hair may come and go, but the big penis never goes out of fashion. With those possessing more than 8 inches (20 cm) making up less than 2% of the world's population, this rare accessory will always fascinate.

In The Big Penis Book we explore the centuries-old fascination with the large phallus, a fascination common to men and women alike. This hefty book is profusely illustrated with over 400 historic photos of spectacular male endowments, including rare photos of the legendary John Holmes. The majority of the photographs are from the 1970s, when the sexual revolution first freed photographers to depict the male entirely nude. Photographers include Bob Mizer of Athletic Model Guild, David Hurles of Old Reliable, Colt, Falcon, Sierra Domino, Third World, and Champion Studios, with each of these iconic photographers interviewed or profiled, along with information about each of their models. And if this isn t enough, the book closes with a special surprise comparable to the Guinness Book of Records Norma Stitz featured in The Big Book of Breasts! Can you guess what body part Dian is dissecting next?

Acts (Life Lessons)

Acts (Life Lessons) Review

Max Lucado is a clear writer and teacher and in this "life lessons" study has provided a very basic guided devotion of the book of acts. There are a total of 12 lessons to cover the entire book, so as you might expect the study does not cover all of acts. Instead, the study covers major events and takes the reader through each event with a semi-guided reflection. Each lesson has the following elements:

Reflection - a short intro to the theme of the study
Situation - a short context for the scripture reading
Observation - the scripture reading from the ncv and Ning
Exploration - a few questions to help the reader think about the passage
Inspiration - notes from Lucado about the theme; these are often from one of his previous books
Reaction - questions to help the reader apply the lesson
Life lessons - Lucado's take away from the lesson
Devotion - a prayer

The bible study is enjoyable but a little basic. If you were looking for more of a commentary you will want to look elsewhere. For something to add to your morning devotions that will not take a lot of additional time this is great.

Acts (Life Lessons) Overview

Revised and updated, the Lucado Life Lessons series takes the participant on a journey through the Bible, book by book. Inquisitive questions, "Keys to the Text" feature, and new material compose this useful and concise tool from renowned Bible teacher and pastor Max Lucado.

Her description of academic conferences in St. Petersburg and Berkley are both high and low points of the book. High points because they are funny as hell, low because almost everyone at both places seem ridiculous. The Babel meeting in California is full of absurdities--the Hoover Institution is co-sponsoring it and they would really like to have some three dimensional objects as part of the show--a fake fur hat that looks like something a Russian would wear or a Cossack costume that was probably picked up at a Halloween shop going out of business sale.

The Possessed: Adventures with Russian Books and the People Who Read Them Overview

THE TRUE BUT UNLIKELY STORIES OF LIVES DEVOTED—ABSURDLY! MELANCHOLICALLY! BEAUTIFULLY!—TO THE RUSSIAN CLASSICS

No one who read Elif Batuman’s first article (in the journal n+1) will ever forget it. “Babel in California” told the true story of various human destinies intersecting at Stanford University during a conference about the enigmatic writer Isaac Babel. Over the course of several pages, Batuman managed to misplace Babel’s last living relatives at the San Francisco airport, uncover Babel’s secret influence on the making of King Kong, and introduce her readers to a new voice that was unpredictable, comic, humane, ironic, charming, poignant, and completely, unpretentiously full of love for literature.

Batuman’s subsequent pieces—for The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, and the London Review of Books— have made her one of the most sought-after and admired writers of her generation, and its best traveling companion. In The Possessed we watch her investigate a possible murder at Tolstoy’s ancestral estate. We go with her to Stanford, Switzerland, and St. Petersburg; retrace Pushkin’s wanderings in the Caucasus; learn why Old Uzbek has one hundred different words for crying; and see an eighteenth-century ice palace reconstructed on the Neva.

Love and the novel, the individual in history, the existential plight of the graduate student: all find their place in The Possessed. Literally and metaphorically following the footsteps of her favorite authors, Batuman searches for the answers to the big questions in the details of lived experience, combining fresh readings of the great Russians, from Pushkin to Platonov, with the sad and funny stories of the lives they continue to influence—including her own.

Adobe After Effects CS5 Classroom in a Book

Adobe After Effects CS5 Classroom in a Book Review

While some software guides focused on a new product simply add a few new sections to reflect upgrades, this book has been thoroughly rewritten and could easily stand alone as a solid introduction to After Effects. As you would expect in a guide published by Adobe, this "official training workbook" has been revised completely to reflect what's new in Adobe After Effects CS5. It begins with the basics, but includes chapters on the new rotobrush, on color correction with the new Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse 3 plugin, on building 3d objects within After Effects, and on using mocha to track motion. So this would be a nice refresher for those who haven't used After Effects in a while, and a great introduction for those who are just starting out with After Effects now. For a more thorough introduction to some of the basic features of After Effects, it would be good to supplement this with After Effects Apprentice.

I like that the book opens up by having you complete some actual animations before it really gets into the technical details of how to set up a workspace and the like. They do a nice job throughout of balancing introductions to the magic of After Effects with delivery of the nitty gritty details you have to know to make it work properly. They also do a very good job introducing the reader to "best practices" - ways of doing things that keep your workspace clean and well organized, and make it easy to find what you need. Occasionally they leave out things that will be obvious to those who've worked with AE before but might confuse newcomers - for example when they first have the reader work on a motion path, they assume it will be visible, but don't mention that if it isn't by default you need to click on the button in the Comp panel to make it visible.

The approach the authors take in this book is mostly just to lead the reader through creating several ready-made projects (whose basic elements have already been created, and are available on the included dvd) that will introduce them to a range of possible tweaks and procedures and effects. There isn't always as much explanation as I'd have liked - and sometimes it feels like following a recipe, that simply says "do this, and then that" and doesn't always explain the whys of each step, or what would happen if things were done differently. The main advantage of this approach is that it allows a beginner to see quickly some of the many things that can be done with After Effects. The disadvantage is that after going through things this quickly, the reader would not be very well prepared to apply similar effects in different projects without guidance. (This was especially evident in the Puppet Warp chapter, where they had the reader animate a cartoon character using the Puppet Warp tool, but instead of leading readers through the qualitative process of figuring out how to animate the character they just gave numbers for the positions of each body part at different times - so it was really a matter of just typing in lots of numbers rather than learning how to make it work and look right.) I think it would be stronger if they gave more exercises designed to help the reader put what they've learned into practice on projects that had more flexibility; in that sense, this guide is not as strong as After Effects Apprentice.

At the same time, for someone new to After Effects with CS5, I think this would be a very good introduction, because it does lead the reader through not only the standard skills you need to work with After Effects effectively, but also through several of its newest features, something that you wouldn't get from, say, After Effects Apprentice. In fact, if it could be managed, I'd suggest that an ideal beginner's course in After Effects CS5 would begin with this book as a way of getting into the program, and getting exposure to the range of its features, and then following that up with After Effects Apprentice to get a more in depth and flexible, practical introduction to the basics. For those who already have some experience with After Effects and want a refresher course, or for those who are just getting started with After Effects CS5 and want a fast introduction to what is possible, this book alone might not be a bad way to go. There are several things I learned from working through this book even though I've had some experience working with After Effects, and have worked through a few other books and several tutorials. The new material that addresses After Effects CS5 comes in chapters 9 and beyond, addressing the Roto Brush, the advanced color correction possible with Synthetic Aperture Color Finesse 3, the latest 3d and advanced tracking possibilities.

The Real Book: Sixth Edition

The Real Book: Sixth Edition Review

I bought all three volumes of this series. I like the hefty comb binding that lies flat on the music stand. The printing is large enough and simple enough to be read easily, even in slightly dimmed light. There is plenty of room to add one's own notes. There are some streamlined performance notes. I appreciate the index in the front. It has a variety of songs from the most revered jazz classics to some popular numbers. Still, the series does not have ALL the songs ever written during the jazz and swing era. That doesn't seem humanly possible, so I didn't expect it.

BUT somehow I got it in my head that it had the words. Guess I was wrong. No words. This is not a huge deal because the words are pretty easy to get on the Internet whereas the tunes are not. Still, I wish the words were included. There is enough room on most of the pages, as they stand, that the words could have been included. As I collect the words I will hand print them under the staffs. Lack of words is the only reason I did not give all 5 stars.

The Real Book: Sixth Edition Feature

  • Songlist:
  • 'Round Midnight
  • (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons
  • (Old Man From) The Old Country
  • 500 Miles High

The Real Book: Sixth Edition Overview

The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time. Since the 1970s, musicians have trusted these volumes to get them through every gig, night after night. The problem is that the books were illegally produced and distributed without any copyrights or royalties paid to the master composers who created these musical canons. Hal Leonard is very proud to present the first legitimate and legal editions of these books ever produced. You and your customers won't even notice the difference...the covers look the same, the engravings look the same, the songlist is nearly identical, and the price remains fair even on a musician's salary! But every conscientious musician and music store owner will appreciate that these books are now produced legally and ethically, benefitting the songwriters that we owe for some of the greatest music ever written! 400 songs, including: All Blues * Au Privave * Autumn Leaves (Les Feuilles Mortes) * Black Orpheus * Bluesette * Body and Soul * Bright Size Life * Con Alma * Dolphin Dance * Don't Get Around Much Anymore * Easy Living * Epistrophy * Falling in Love with Love * Footprints * Four * Four on Six * Giant Steps * Have You Met Miss Jones? * How High the Moon * I'll Remember April * Impressions * Lullaby of Birdland * Misty * My Funny Valentine * Oleo * Red Clay * Satin Doll * Sidewinder * Stella by Starlight * Take Five * There Is No Greater Love * Wave * and more!

The Little Book of Sideways Markets: How to Make Money in Markets that Go Nowhere (Little Books. Big Profits)

The Little Book of Sideways Markets: How to Make Money in Markets that Go Nowhere (Little Books. Big Profits) Review

The Little Book of Sideways Markets: How to Make Money in Markets that Go Nowhere (Little Books. Big Profits) Overview

Contrary to popular opinion, markets rarely experience significant periods down; half of the time they do rise but the other half of the time they go nowhere - trading seemingly mindlessly in a range with quick ups and breathtaking downs, only to come back to where they were. These periods last far too long to just buy and hold, since that kind of a strategy leads to 0 returns or worse. What's an investor to do when you have to save for college educations and retirement but the markets are going nowhere?
Vitaliy Katsenelson has the answer: a value investing strategy with a focus on when to sell will get you through the whipsaws of sideways markets and coming out well ahead. Vitaliy clearly explains the market cycles and then provides you with a simple strategy that Tevya the Milkman uses to invest that follows three simple rules for quality, growth, and value. Katsenelson also marks the traps and pitfalls that lay in wait so you can avoid them and take a look over the horizon at the oncoming crises in Japan and China. Sideways markets aren't as fun as bull markets but once you understand how to make money in them, much like turning lemons into lemonade, you'll find your portfolio grows nicely even when the market is stalled.

Un, Deux, Trois: First French Rhymes (Book & CD)

Un, Deux, Trois: First French Rhymes (Book & CD) Review

I have only one child so far and I try to speak only French to him during the day. Sometimes it's hard to think of things to talk about, especially since he's only 8 months old and can't talk back! So, we listen to this CD of songs and rhymes and it's fun to sing along with them for the baby. Once I turn it on, he perks up and smiles. I can bounce him on my knees while we listen. Although it is only audio, it keeps him entertained for longer than any kids show we've watched so far. Then, even when we're not home, I can sing him the songs or chant the rhymes. They're easy to learn and memorize. I also like how the songs cover lots of types of animals, numbers, days of the week and some letters. I'm really glad I bought it!

¿Dónde está el ombliguito? Un libro para levantar la tapita por Karen Katz (Spanish Edition) Review

My 18 month old daughter loves this book. My husband and I do also, except for the fact that all of the names of the body parts are written with "ito" at the end. (used to say it is small) I would prefer "boca" and not "bociquita", or "ojos" instead of "ojitos". Other than that it is a great book. Especially with the flaps.

The Big Book of Christian Mysticism: The Essential Guide to Contemplative Spirituality

The Big Book of Christian Mysticism: The Essential Guide to Contemplative Spirituality Review

I loved this book. I enjoyed the author's writing style and although it is jam packed with information it was not boring at ALL. I found it both practical and inspiring. Maybe that's because I was spiritually hungry for this topic. I have been a Christian for decades, and have become interested in Christian mysticism as a way to make myself available to God. American Christianity talks a big game about having relationship with God, but if I am honest about my own life I desire much more than just reading my Bible and me talking to God through prayer. I rarely feel Him communicating with me. Sure, I feel His presence, and it's not that I doubt my faith, but mysticism seems like a practical way to make space in my inner being for God to take up residence and actually change me. This book helped me understand the difference between Eastern meditation and spirituality and the rich tradition that Christianity has. I don't need to find an Indian guru to journey into the "unknowing". This book has a great list of books for further reading, too. So it answered all my basic questions, gave me direction to actually experience silence, solitude, meditation, contemplation, lectio divina for myself and paradoxically filled me with questions and ultimately a desire to learn more. Paradoxes abound in this book, and I realized, in life. Mysticism changes nothing, and changes everything. After years of dreading the Christian "quiet time" I now look forward to my 30 minutes of solitude with the God of the universe. What a relief.

The Big Book of Christian Mysticism: The Essential Guide to Contemplative Spirituality Overview

In popular usage, "mysticism" typically refers to New Age or Eastern forms of spirituality. However, the mystical tradition is also an important component of the Christian tradition. At its heart--and much like its expression in other faith traditions--Christian mysticism is an ancient practice that incorporates meditation, contemplation, worship, philosophy, the quest for personal enlightenment, and the experience of Divine presence.

This volume is a comprehensive introduction and guide to Christian mysticism. It is a big book about a big possibility: the hope of achieving real, blissful, experiential unison with God. Among the topics covered here are a general introduction to mysticism, the Bible and mysticism, the history and types of Christian mysticism, biographical sketches of leading Christian mystics, and practical instructions about practicing mysticism today.

This is a breathtaking work that explores a form of spirituality that has changed lives over the course of 2,000 years. Learning about Christian mysticism and how it has been articulated through the centuries will prove inspirational for today's seekers, regardless of the faith tradition.

"The mystic is not a special kind of person; every person is a special kind of mytic." --William McNamara

The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, Book 2)

The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, Book 2) Review

This is Stephen King's second entry into his now legendary Dark Tower Series. The first book in this series, titled "The Gunslinger", was a highly imaginative story about the last gunslinger on earth, set sometime in the far future after the world has "moved on" (see King's "The Stand"). He is the last of his kind, and "The Dark Tower 1; The Gunslinger" chronicles his quest as he follows/chases a mysterious figure, known as "The Man in Black", across the desert with hopes that The Man in Black may have information that will lead Roland to "The Dark Tower". The gunslinger's name is Roland, and with the help of a few odd-ball characters that he encounters on his journey (most notably a young boy named Jake who is from a different "when" than Roland himself), the story ends with Roland finally catching up to The Man in Black (known also Walter O-Dim ~or~ Randall Flagg) and the two have a talk around a campfire. Walter gives The Gunslinger a tarot card reading & tells Roland a few secrets of life. The book ends with Roland waking up by the burned-out fire pit next to the remains of The Man in Black.

And there the story sat, for MANY years, until Stephen King finally picked up the story where it left off (King began writing Book 1 "The Gunslinger" when he was a senior in college - Book 2 wasn't released until 1987!). The second book "The Dark Tower 2; The Drawing of the Three" begins just a few short hours later in the story, and finds Roland stranded on a long stretch of beach. By the end of the 1st chapter, Roland has his trigger-fingers eaten off by some giant lobster-creatures that wash up onto the shore. He is in pain, sick from infection, and on a fast-track to dying when Roland encounters the first of three people (from other "whens") that he must bring (or DRAW, if you will) into his own world via three strange doors that he comes across as he makes his way down the beach (hence the name of the book, "The Drawing of the Three"). Roland enlists the help of these three characters to aid him on his quest to find The Dark Tower, which sits at the very center of the circle of life itself.

It should be noted that although the 1st book in this series is very good, it was written when King was very young. But, by the time the 2nd book was released King had been writing for years & had honed his craft. It is absolutely necessary to read the 1st book when approaching this series, but don't be put off if "The Gunslinger" doesn't have that famous Stephen King "flow" that we, "The Constant Readers" have grown to love. HANG IN THERE! The 1st book is a short read, and by the time you find yourself into the 2nd book, you will be glad that you stuck with this story. The Drawing of the Three (and ALL of the following books in this marvelous 7-book series) is an outstanding piece of fiction that ANY fan of "fantasy" stories will enjoy.

I have read (& loved) MANY fantasy stories over the years, from Tolkien's The Hobbit & LOTR trilogy, Herbert's Dune series,.... even Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern, and in my humble opinion, THE DARK TOWER series by Stephen King is the best fiction story/adventure that I've ever had the pleasure of reading. If you are looking for your standard Stephen King "horror" stories, look elsewhere. But if you want to take one of the most brilliant, inventive, & imaginative adventures that you're ever likely to take, then LOOK NO FURTHER! Join Roland, his friends, and millions of loyal readers on a quest that you will never likely forget. THE DARK TOWER SERIES is story-telling perfection.

Thomas Jefferson: A Character Sketch: (Timeless Classic Books) Review

Thomas Jefferson: A Character Sketch: (Timeless Classic Books) Overview

No golden eagle, warm from the stamping press of the mint, is more sharply impressed with its image and superscription than was the formative period of our government by the genius and personality of Thomas Jefferson. Standing on the threshold of the nineteenth century, no one who attempted to peer down the shadowy vista, saw more clearly than he the possibilities, the perils, the pitfalls and the achievements that were within the grasp of the Nation. None was inspired by purer patriotism. None was more sagacious, wise and prudent, and none understood his countrymen better. By birth an aristocrat, by nature he was a democrat. The most learned man that ever sat in the president's chair, his tastes were the simple ones of a farmer. Surrounded by the pomp and ceremony of Washington and Adams' courts, his dress was homely. He despised titles, and preferred severe plainness of speech and the sober garb of the Quakers.

A Guide Book of United States Coins 2011: The Official Red Book

A Guide Book of United States Coins 2011: The Official Red Book Review

The 2011 Red Book once again blows away all expectations! It is the industry standard for both beginning and experienced collectors. Now in it's 63rd addition, this year's Red Book added special sections for the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial Cents, the 2011 Presidential Dollar designs, and the new America The Beautiful Quarter program. There are also extended informational reviews on U.S. Private Issue tokens and colonial coinage.

The only issue with the Red Book is the annual nature. Unfortunately, most pricing is already obsolete due to a fast moving precious metals market. Overall however, the Red Book is definitely the best resource on the market for overall numismatic information.

The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need (Thaler, Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need)

The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need (Thaler, Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need) Review

I am a paramedic and love this book only because it helped with school and still has some good information for reference. This book isn't your solve all problems book but it is a great book to teach you and get you started on understanding ECG rhythms and will help you in the future of your medical career. This book helped our class out a lot only because our paramedic books only went over the minimal requirements and most of us wanted to learn more and advance our knowledge and this book did in fact help. Again if you are learning ECG and already know it and want to learn more into it than this book is for you. I have this book sitting on my shelf in case I even forget something or see something new and want to know why it happened or what it means. Good reference material.

The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need (Thaler, Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need) Overview

Now in its Sixth Edition, this popular, practical text presents all the information clinicians need to use the EKG in everyday practice and interpret hypertrophy and enlargement, arrhythmias, conduction blocks, pre-excitation syndromes, and myocardial infarction. The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary (Diary of a Wimpy Kid)

The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) Review

As most of you know, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is now playing in theaters. Readers of Jeff Kinney's wildly popular series can finally see Greg Heffley's hilarious adventures come to life on the big screen. Coinciding with the film's release is the publication of THE WIMPY KID MOVIE DIARY, which will give you tons of insight into what it takes to turn a book into a movie (plus, it will make you laugh!).

Kinney begins by telling us all about the January 1998 "birth" of Greg Heffley, when he was first doodled into a sketch pad. Coincidentally, only one month later, Zachary Gordon, the baby destined to grow up and play the part of Greg in the Wimpy Kid movie, was born.

Kinney shows us how his ideas about a wimpy kid evolved, first into books and then into the film. We see early sketches of Greg, along with story ideas Kinney scribbled down. Just wait until you see the photo of his Wimpy Kid idea pages from his sketch pad. One page is literally crammed with snippets of ideas and drawings (Kinney says some of these single idea pages took him months to create). He worked on Wimpy Kid drawings and ideas for four years, inventing Greg and all the people and places in Greg's world. Next, he cut photocopied pages of the sketch pad into single jokes, drawings and ideas. He spent several years just pasting these scraps on big sheets of poster board. Then he began typing his ideas into a story. That book, in all its 1,300-page glory, was first published online. Eventually, Amulet Books decided to publish DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, and the rest is literary (and now film) history.

Zachary Gordon read DIARY OF A WIMPY KID and loved the book so much that he told his mother he wanted to be in a movie version if it was ever made. Little could he have guessed that his wish would someday come true!

Meanwhile, Hollywood filmmakers talked about how to transform the book into a movie. Kinney gives us (hilarious) sketches of some of these discussions. Then, step by step, we learn how a movie is made, starting with writers coming in to audition to write the screenplay. Writing a screenplay based on a book, it seems, is an intriguing and complicated process. The writers must choose what parts of the book they will use in the film, and they also add in new scenes to surprise viewers who have read the book. Lots of people have input into the screenplay, so it changes constantly.

Readers of THE WIMPY KID MOVIE DIARY get to meet some of the important people guiding the film, such as director Thor Freudenthal, who kept a diary similar to Greg's when he was a boy. (Some of his journal pages are included in the book.) Meanwhile, the search was on for actors who would bring the parts of Greg and Rowley and all the other characters in the Wimpy Kid world to life.

As Kinney walks us through the making of the film, you'll learn about things you've both wondered about and never even considered. For example, you'll discover how film crew members make such items as fake boogers and arm casts. You'll also learn exactly why Zachary Gordon gets queasy if anyone says "mashed potatoes" to him.

THE WIMPY KID MOVIE DIARY is a terrific book. Fans of the series will especially appreciate this hilarious and witty read, but even newcomers will be motivated to see the movie and read the books (though not necessarily in that order!).

Carpe Corpus (Morganville Vampires, Book 6)

Carpe Corpus (Morganville Vampires, Book 6) Review

These book just keep getting better and better. With book six, the series ventures into the world of steampunk with a special Morganville twist. With the very little I have actually read in the genre of Steampunk, I had a hard time visualizing what Ada looks like, but I am hoping these eventually become movies and someone creates this fascinating machine for the movies! Ada's quirkiness and creepiness fit right in with the rest of the Morganville residents, though, so I know that she/it will grow on me, too.
With this book, it is also a relief that Claire has finally turned seventeen. The build-up between her and Shane was driving me crazy. I also like how the author was much more realistic about her first time with Shane than many romance novelists, with much awkwardness and naivety. Her parents' response to the knowledge of this was quite humorous and charming and lent some much-needed humor to the extent of fear with which Morganville is saturated.
Even though these books have much fantasy, they still move along with a certain believability. The one major exception that I found in this book - that I simply had a hard time believing possible - was when Claire almost dies at the end. With the amount of blood loss she suffered from, there is simply no way she could stay conscious for the amount of that she did or stay alive as she did. When books are as entertaining as these are though, I don't mind a little "writer's license" to keep the main character alive and resolve the loose thread of who is responsible for the random murders of girls in the previous books. I am surprised, though, that Claire never made the connection to who Dean is, since I saw it coming quite easily.
Mynin gets more and more entertaining and fascinating from book to book - he is probably one of my favorite characters for his unpredictability. I am thrilled that the disease can no longer get the best of him - it means he could play a more central role in future books. Many of the characters are easy to like, even if their morals often verge into gray area, such as Amelie.
Even though the "book" has suffered its final demise, the bookworm in me still wonders what else was in that book, so I hope future books can tell me more about it.

Carpe Corpus (Morganville Vampires, Book 6) Overview

In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace-until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants-the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?

This Book Is Not Good For You (Secret Series)

This Book Is Not Good For You (Secret Series) Review

Hi! I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and this book/series. I am a Special Education teacher. From my experience working as a teacher, I know that boys are reluctant readers. I have 3 boys of my own. That's why I've made it my goal to motivate unmotivated or reluctant readers. I find books I think the boys will read and read them myself, so I can recommend it and discuss it with them if they decide to read it.
So, I started a Guys Read chapter on my block for the pre-teen boys in my neighborhood. I only have about 7 members, but I'm okay with that. We have so much fun. We take field trips to enhance the experience. To further enhance the experience, this year I've added books that also have the movie. Even though this series doesn't have a movie, I have included it in my summer book club reading list. I know the boys on my block will love this. It's written for pre-teen boys and girls. There are a couple of pictures but I definitely wouldn't describe it as a picture book. The pictures merely enhance the book. The kids are the heroines of the book so children will love that. It's nice clean reading. It's great for parents as well. If you're the type of parent who likes to know what your children are reading, I'd say give this series a try. You won't be disappointed.
